Xiamen to build itself into an international comprehensive transportation hub

 The Xiamen's Fourteenth Five Year Plan for the Development of Comprehensive Transportation (hereinafter referred to as Plan) has been approved recently. According to the Plan, by 2025, Xiamen will have virtually completed its modernized and comprehensive transportation system that will be safe, convenient, efficient, green, and economical. The general development goal is to consolidate a "hub", which is to build Xiamen into a city with an international comprehensive transportation hub; optimize the "two-layered network", namely the regional three-dimensional transportation network and the urban high-grade transportation network; perfect "three systems", namely the people-satisfactory system of modern transportation service, the China-leading system of smart transportation management, and the well-guaranteed system of transportation industry governance.

Xiamen Carbon Neutrality Industrial Investment and Financing Summit kicks off

 Commenced on September 10, the 2021 Xiamen Carbon Neutrality Industrial Investment and Financing Summit (the "Summit") has attracted attendees from all circles to have in-depth conversations in carbon neutrality and capital markets, industrial revolution, investment and financing. The Summit also saw the establishment of a carbon-neutrality-themed foundation and the settlement of the cross-straits-themed foundation for Taiwanese merchants in Xiamen. The carbon-neutral-themed foundation will put its focus on the layout of new energy, new material, high-end manufacturing, and other strategic emerging industries to facilitate the fulfillment of the national goals of "carbon neutrality" and "emission peak". The cross-straits-themed foundation for Taiwanese merchants to be settled in Xiamen will focus on the layout of strategic emerging industries, put eyes on investment opportunities for Taiwanese businesses, and further promote commercial interaction and economic development between Taiwan and Chinese mainland, thus boosting Xiamen to further qualify as a regional financial center.

Three districts of Xiamen rated as national pilot ones

 On September 14, National Energy Administration released the list of pilot areas for the development of roof-mounted distributed photovoltaic power stations throughout all counties (cities, districts) of China. The Haicang, Tong'an, and Xiang'an districts of Xiamen are on the list. The new energy industry is also one of the emerging strategic industries of which Xiamen has put priority on cultivation and development. As one of new energy forms, the photovoltaic industry of Xiamen has witnessed stable and benign development with a bunch of leading enterprises showing up. Clenergy Xiamen and Serve Energy were recently rated as Top 20 PV Support Bracket Enterprises of China in 2021 and Kehua Hengsheng was rated as Top 20 PV Inverter Manufacturers of China in 2021. Faratronic, a Xiamen company specializing in new energy, owns up to 60% market share in photovoltaics and wind power, and partners with first-tier inverter producers including Huawei and SUNGROW.

Two Xiamen districts to be rated as national demonstration areas

 Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China has released the Announcement on the Proposed List of the Fifth Batch of Demonstration Areas for National Ecological Civilization Construction and the "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets" Practice and Innovation Bases. Huli District and Jimei District are on the list. In recent years, Huli District has been devoted to combining the action plan for building a stunning Xiamen with the action plan for improving infrastructure on the island. Efforts were made to develop a blueprint of good-looking, well-civilized, modernized, and internationalized central city areas. The ecological civilization construction will boost Xiamen, as one of the first Special Economic Zones, to become a core and benchmark whilst beautiful area. In recent years, Jimei District has deepened its efforts to promote ecological development, intensified the measures for protecting natural resources, and continuously driven ecological restoration. Actual deeds were taken to further embody the national program of ecological civilization construction and buckle down for building a most beautiful and well-civilized cross-island city area.

Xiamen ranks No.1 in China City Convenience Store Development Index

 On September 28, the China City Convenience Store Development Index was released and Xiamen topped the list with a total score of 92 and a growth rate of 7.14%. Convenience stores in Xiamen see a saturability of 3443 people per store, indicating a high development and convenience level in the industry, ranking No.7 throughout the nation in terms of saturability. The saturability is a key indicator for evaluating the development of city convenience stores. Also, Xiamen takes the fourth position in business environment rating. According to the head of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Xiamen will build a batch of "15-minute convenience circle" pilot sites before 2025 at a rate of at least 10 sites constructed each year, which will play roles in providing livelihood opportunities, promoting consumption upgrade, and boosting the city's economic micro-circulation. Next year, the China Convenience Store Convention with a participation of 5000 people.

Xiamen releases a development plan for strategic emerging industries

 Xiamen has recently released its development plan for strategic emerging industries as a part of the Fourteenth Five-year Plan. In the plan, proposals are made to fully boost the development of "5+X" key sectors, foster the next-generation information technology industry as a backbone; strengthen two emerging leading industries, i.e. the biomedicine & health industry and the new material & new energy industry; develop digital innovation and marine high-tech industries as two characteristic landmark industries. Also, advanced arrangements have been made for several sectors, including flexible electronics, third-generation semiconductors, aeronautics and astronautics, intelligent manufacturing equipment, precision medicine, and green low-carbon technologies. The goal of Xiamen before 2025 is to achieve a total volume of strategic emerging industries exceeding RMB 1000 billion, which accounts for one fourth of gross regional product and with industrial added value exceeding RMB 250 billion. The added value of high-tech industries above the designated scale is expected to account for 45 percent of that of all industries. The ratio between R&D expense and GDP is expected to hit 3.5 percent, and the amount of national-level high-tech enterprises is supposed to reach 3500.

Xiamen takes the lead to launch business environment improvement schemes

 By taking the lead in China to study and enact the Special Inclusive Scheme of Xiamen for Improvement and Implementation of Innovation, Xiamen will incorporate "creating a world-leading business environment" as one of its critical steps for advancing the construction of an international modern metropolis of high caliber and stunning looks. Featuring 58 specific measures in terms of key element allocation, industrial ecosystem, urban space, public services, and law system environment, the Scheme aims to facilitate high-quality development and overall transcendence, greatly improve Xiamen's image as a livable and business-friendly city, and optimize a market-based, law-governed international business environment.
