Innovative development of digital economy planned in Xiamen

 Recently, Fujian Province released the Work Plan for the National Pilot Zone (Fujian) for Innovative Development of Digital Economy, which proposes to achieve an added value of more than 2.6 trillion yuan by 2022 in the province's digital economy. For this purpose, five key tasks will be implemented. Among them, Xiamen has been repeatedly mentioned, including implementing the promotion action of digital economy park to guide Xiamen Software Park and other key parks to expand characteristic industries; supporting the building of Xiamen City Brain; speeding up the construction of the Innovation Center of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution in Xiamen; expediting the progress of Xiamen Software Park National Digital Service Export Base; raising the construction level of the Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Xiamen; building and upgrading Xiamen Kunpeng Supercomputing Center; and enhancing the intelligence level of Xiamen Airport.

Xiamen Torch panel display industry again rated "five-star"

 According to the development quality evaluation results of the national new industrial demonstration base in 2020 released recently, the electronic information (photoelectric display) of Xiamen Torch was awarded the highest level of "five-star" for the second consecutive year. It is also the only five-star demonstration base in Fujian Province. In 2020, Xiamen Torch achieved an output value of 143.39 billion yuan in the panel display industry, accounting for 95.6% of the city, 1.9 percentage points higher than that in 2019. The first two months of this year witnessed an output value of 18.79 billion yuan, up 14.2% year on year.

Xiamen enterprises join forces to win the national award for integrated circuits

 Recently, a number of integrated circuit enterprises in Haicang, Xiamen teamed up to win the "IC Innovation Award" industrial chain cooperation award, marking the first time for Fujian enterprises to win this honor. Xiamen Semiconductor Investment Group, EPICMEMS, Sky Semiconductor, Silan Jike Microelectronics, Silan Gallium Compound Semiconductor, and Tongfu Microelectronics, etc. were awarded the industrial chain cooperation award for their "three-chain integration" of industrial chain, innovation chain and financial chain to promote the development of semiconductor industry.

Xiamen to accelerate the establishment of a national pilot zone for digital economy development

 March 23 saw the convening of a press conference on "Construction of the National Pilot Zone (Fujian) for Innovative Development of Digital Economy" in Fuzhou. It is learned from the conference that Xiamen will pace up the construction of the Innovation Center of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution and the Xiamen Software Park National Digital Service Export Base. By expediting the digitization, networking and intelligence transformation in all fields of economy and society, Xiamen will strive to build a national pilot zone for the development of digital economy. Also, the city will strengthen the construction of 5G networks, the industrial Internet and the Internet of things, quicken the progress of building Xiamen Kunpeng Supercomputing Center and other new digital infrastructure, and launch infrastructure projects such as smart transportation, smart education, smart medical care and smart ocean.

Xiamen introduces 36 reform initiatives in ten key areas

 Recently, the "Implementation Plan of Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and People's Government on Accelerating the Improvement of the Socialist Market Economy System in the New Era" was officially released to provide important institutional guarantee and impetus for building Xiamen into a modern international metropolis of high quality and stunning looks via all-round development at a higher level. 36 specific reform initiatives in ten key areas were proposed, including actively striving to establish a new Xiamen Free Trade Zone, promoting the upgrading of Xiangyu and Haicang Comprehensive Bonded Zones, striving to establish a new airport comprehensive free bonded zone in Xiang'an, seeking pilot implementation of a number of key policies, carrying out open policies and initiatives with strong international competitiveness in fields like investment, trade, capital, transport and people-to-people exchanges, as well as establishing BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership Innovation Base with high standards, etc.

Xiamen tops the province in multiple items of foreign investment utilization rank

 Recently, the Department of Commerce of Fujian Province released a list of cities, counties (districts) and development zones that ranked high in the completion of the main indicators of foreign investment utilization in the first quarter of 2021. During this period, Xiamen led the province in terms of the paid-in foreign investment and the proportion of contracted foreign investment received. Among them, Siming District of Xiamen topped the counties (cities, districts) and development zones in terms of the paid-in foreign investment.

Xiamen again ranks among China's Top 100 Cities

 A list of China's top 100 cities in 2021 was released at a seminar on the comprehensive development strategies of the country's top 100 cities in 2021 held in Beijing. Xiamen is again on the list, rising from 29th in 2020 to 24th this year. Compiled by the Wharton Economic Institute, the 2021 Top 100 Chinese Cities are ranked according to the combined scores of the top 110 prefecture-level and above cities in terms of hard economic indicators (consisting of GDP, deposit and finance) and soft economic indicators (consisting of environment, science and education, culture and health). Xiamen has not only risen steadily on this list, but has also been leading other similar lists several times in recent years. For example, it ranks the fifth in the "Top 100 Foreign Trade Cities in China"; the third in the "Consumer Satisfaction Assessment Report of 100 Cities in 2020"; the fifth in the list of "Top 100 Cities in Local Government Efficiency in 2020"; the ninth in the "Top 100 Chinese Prefecture-level City 2020 in Comprehensive Well-off Index" (including sub-provincial cities).
