Xiamen boasts eight ten-billion-yuan industrial chains

 From January through July, the industrial added value of Xiamen enterprises above the designated scale witnessed a year-on-year growth of 20.1%, registering a two-year average growth of 10.5%, which is 3.6 percentage points higher than the provincial level. From the perspective of industries, 29 out of 35 main industrial categories realized growth from January to July, accounting for 82.9 percent of the total. Main drivers boosting the growth of industries above the designated scale include pharmaceutical manufacturing, computer communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industries. From January to July, the industrial added value of citywide high-tech industries accounted for 43.7% of the total industrial added value above the designated scale, up by 32.1%, which is 12.0 percentage points higher than the latter and witnesses a two-year average growth of 16.2%. From January to July, all the industrial chains of Xiamen operated well and eight of them already reached an output of more than ten billion yuan.

Xiamen tops Fujian for development environment for SMEs

 According to the Fujian Assessment Report of Development Environment of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises 2020 released on October 8, Xiamen ranks the first not only in the comprehensive score, but also in five sub-environments, i.e. finance & taxation, financing, innovation, market expansion, and service. The Report discovers that Xiamen boasts an array of exemplary practices for the development of SMEs, including the "online + offline" public service platform for SMEs. Its offline network focuses on inner-city SME service centers, demonstration bases and platforms, and is pillared by other charitable and professional public service institutions. Its online network mainly incorporates xt.xmsme.cn, sg.xmsme.cn, and the SME Public Service Official WeChat Account.

Xiamen releases new policies to promote technological innovation

 The Several Regulations of Xiamen Special Economic Zone for Promoting Technological Innovation (hereinafter referred to as Regulations) have been reviewed and approved, and will officially take effect on March 1 this year. The Regulations will provide more powerful and more accurate legal protection for Xiamen to build a high-caliber city of innovation and entrepreneurship at a higher level, and boost the advancement of technological innovation. Designed for innovation-driven development, the Regulations has 31 articles around technological innovation systems and mechanisms, the promotion of commercialization of research and development outcomes, and the enhanced guarantee for technological innovation.

Xiamen takes measures to promote investment

 On January 24, the Xiamen Municipal Working Conference of Industrial Information and Commerce 2022 was held. During the meeting, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce summarized the work of 2021, put forward the targets of 2022, and assigned work tasks of 2022. In 2021, the commerce system of Xiamen achieved new breakthroughs in investment and capital attraction, foreign trade, commercial circulation, conferences and exhibitions, regional cooperation, and many other key fields, signifying a good beginning for the Fourteenth Five-year Plan. The year 2021 witnessed fruitful investment attraction in Xiamen, with a total of 10,960 investment attraction projects completing commercial registration, amounting to RMB 1.76 trillion in the total investment. Those projects included 462 major ones with a total investment of RMB 364.1 million, among which are 162 Fortune Global 500 projects and 24 unicorn projects.

Three world's largest container ships dock at Port of Xiamen in half a month

 On March 31, MSC NELA, one of the world's largest container ships, docked at the Songyu Container Terminal in Port of Xiamen. This is the third time in half a month that the terminal has received the world's largest container ships. Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration, together with Xiamen Port Authority and other departments, has customized a guarantee plan for each berthing, so as to realize the quick customs clearance for the giant ships, with efficient service to accelerate the resumption of work and production of the Silk Road Maritime.

Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, a large number of ship routes have been changed and adjusted. Three 200,000-ton ultra-large container ships including MSC NELA, which were originally scheduled to dock in May this year, have submitted temporary applications, hoping to dock at Xiamen in March. "It is necessary to integrate such factors as waterway, hydrology and meteorology for a giant ship to arrive at the port. We have teamed up with multiple departments and entities to tailor the navigation plan and berthing plan for the giant ship to enter the port, so as to effectively solve the problem of temporary changes in the ship schedule under the influence of the epidemic." introduced by the person in charge of Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration.

According to statistics, three 200,000-ton container ships have completed the loading and unloading of more than 11,000 TEUs in Port of Xiamen. Clothing, digital products, seafood, and daily necessities, etc. will all be shipped to countries along the route to inject strong driving force for the resumption of work and production of the Silk Road Maritime, and people's livelihood materials will be transported for global epidemic prevention. Statistics showed that as of March 31, the operation of the route named Silk Road Maritime in Port of Xiamen has basically returned to the level before the epidemic.

China Railway Express (Xiamen) bucks up in freight volume

 The X8208 freight train from Xiamen to Moscow departed at Haicang Station at 9:00 a.m. on April 12. This China Railway Express, composed of fifty 40-foot container carriages loaded with electronic products, clothing and about 1.58 million disposable anti-epidemic masks, left China via Erenhot and is expected to arrive in Moscow in 15 days.

It is understood that the masks are delivered for enterprises in the Khovrino region of Russia. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the freight volume of the China Railway Express (Xiamen) train has soared recently, European countries' demand for masks remains high, and manufacturers are expanding production at full capacity. On April 8, the epidemic prevention supplies produced by Ansell, an enterprise in Haicang Bonded Port Zone, took the China Railway Express (Xiamen) train to assist Europe. On the same day, Ambu Ltd. from Xiamen Xiangyu Bonded Zone exported goods by the train. According to the customs, it is expected that more epidemic prevention supplies will be transported to European countries through the China Railway Express (Xiamen) trains.

Statistics show that Xiamen international trains operated 67 times in the first three months of this year, carrying 6,106 TEUs valued 234 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 148%, 160% and 153% respectively. In particular, Xiamen international trains operated 33 trains in March, carrying 2,958 TEUs worth 113 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 135.7%, 153.3% and 152.6% respectively, and all the data are at record highs.

Xiamen topped the sub-provincial cities in terms of image and reputation

 In the first half of this year, Xiamen topped the sub-provincial cities in terms of image and reputation with 95.0%. Chengdu, Hangzhou, Jinan and Qingdao ranked second to fifth. The city image is an important embodiment of the soft power of the city. Xiamen has won the "five consecutive titles" of national civilized city and was selected as "China's Top 10 Cities of Beautiful Life" in 2019-2020. With a relatively high residents' life happiness index, it was also rated as a city of beautiful life in the eyes of young people aged 18-35.
